Beats and Breathing for Healing in Schools

Here is another great intiative that I just found out about from a comment in my last post about kids and school. It was really cool watching the below video and seeing the kids from South Africa doing yoga and chanting "Waheguru". In the video at one part they are chanting "I am Happy, I am Good, SatNam, Satnam, Satnam ji, Waheguru, Waheguru, Waheguru ji". It just shows how the Guru can touch people in so many different ways, whether they are a Sikh or not.

(Video background music, "Ang Sang Waheguru"...sung by the kids of Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar)

You can watch the video or download it below.

Beats and Breathing for Healing in Schools
A unique drumming and yoga initiative in South Africa

TWENTY THOUSAND DRUMS and LITTLE GURUS in partnership have created a BEATS AND BREATHING FOR HEALING initiative to implement in schools in South Africa.

Due to the present teaching situation, which is in a state of crisis, we are providing two experiential and participatory activities, which give children tools to help them develop self-confidence, self-respect, and self-discipline. Learners need to be exposed to various art forms in order to make informed choices, which in turn create changes in attitude and builds a more civil society.

You can read more about this initiative, see pictures, support them etc at their website: http://www.20000drums.org.za/bbh/index.htm
